ok so I'm starting to think I am like one of those 'Ritalin kids' who were prescribed what was basically speed for their ADHD...
Curious.
I'm on day three and the Duromine feels like a mood stabilizer. My sleep's been basically the same, as in a I wake a few times overnight then return to sleep. My motivation for walking is very high- I've just come back from a long one and it's only 6.30 am. I feel calm. And focussed.
My usual family doc was comfortable prescribing because she knows I put on 11kilos just since going on HRT last year. I started menopause at 41(am now 44) and so HRT is helpful for managing the risk of osteoporosis, but it really made me pack on weight. Starting weight 85 kilos and my height is 166cm, so I had just entered the 'obese' (hate that bloody word) label on the BMI.
Yesterday it looked like I'd lost just over a kilo on the first day, but my scales aren't great so I'm going to start using the scales at my local chemist.
I've little interest in food but am eating light fresh meals (it's Summer in Australia) of fruit and salad with a little cold meat, cheese or hommus thrown in for protein, maybe some low GI breadsticks or crackers.
Good luck everyone, I hope you get the good 'symptoms' I'm having: lovely energy but not manic, very focussed, and weirdly calm.
